POLYURETHANE MILLWORK The first step in manufacturing polyurethane millwork is to create molds that will be used. A coat of primer paint is sprayed into the mold. Once the primer has dried, the urethane foam is poured into the mold, and then placed in a press. After the foam cures and hardens in the shape, the mold can be removed from the press in preparation for finishing the product. The product is removed from the mold and is inspected for quality. A second coat of primer is applied and the product is boxed and readied for shipment. CUTTING & MILLING Fypon ® polyurethane products can be cut and trimmed with standard woodworking tools, including table saws, circular saws, jig saws, band saws and miter saws. Trimming product will remove the smooth finish and create an exposed polyurethane edge. This edge must be finished with paint or stain to protect the exposed polyurethane from discoloration from the sun. A urethane-based adhesive such as Loctite® PL Premium® Construction Adhesive must be used on all joints when installing urethane products.
