Fully Protected Doorway Fully protected doors are sheltered from the elements by an overhang. This type of door is the most durable and will last the longest.

Partially Protected Doorway Partially protected doors are exposed to some elements, but not as much as fully exposed doors. This type of door is less durable than fully protected doors, but it will still last for many years. Is it Partially Protected? The overhang (X) of a partially protected doorway must extend half of the height (Y) distance (X = 1/2 Y). If you have a height (Y) of 10 feet, the overhang of a partially protected doorway must come out 5 feet (X).
